Misguided Adventures
"An average trip to the mall takes a huge turn when four brothers discover Animal Riders for the first time. It's all fun and games until they run into a pesky mall cop who's sniffing for trouble."
I produced this short film for my Senior Thesis Project while at the School of Visual Arts (SVA's) Animation program in 2018, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (BFA). This film took me roughly around 2 years to make. Between writing, designing, storyboarding, modelling props and building environments, then taking a semester off in 2017 to pursue the opportunity of a lifetime to intern at Cartoon Network for
'OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes' in Los Angeles, this is where I really thrived and learned so much about the animation industry. While I was there I first got to pitch the rough idea and animatic in front of a room full of top industry professionals, some of whom really helped me get my career started. I spent countless hours animating, rendering, and developing this project. I had a few friends (who I thought had a natural knack for voice acting) voice most of the characters in the film, which was a really fun opportunity to get them involved and I also brought on some skilled voice actors with expertise in the industry. I worked with a two very talented composers to develop the soundtrack, and I worked really hard on the sound design to try and get the comedic timing just right.
The true success of this film, for me, was getting those intended reactions from the audience: the laughter, the suspense, the emotional journey. It was all carefully planned from the beginning. Whether it's screened in a theatre full of my graduating classmates, in a room full of Animation industry professionals, or in a classroom full of elementary school students, this short film consistently kept the audience captivated, wondering what's going to happen next, and in the end wanting to see more.
Truly inspired by some of my favorite childhood Cartoon Network shows like Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Codename: Kids Next Door, and The Amazing World of Gumball.
I present to you my short film(s) Misguided Adventures.
